Another side of Nowhereland - What is SHIIGA?

SHIIGA is a way of bringing poetry and visual art together as one expression.

The word comes from the Japanese 詩画 (shiga) — a form in which poetry and visual art meet.

In SHIIGA, the poem is not simply a caption for an image, and the image is not merely an illustration of a poem. Words and images are created together, each becoming part of the other.

Through this union, SHIIGA explores the quiet spaces between memory and imagination, nature and human experience, loneliness and connection.

It is a world of poetry, images, flowers, forests, stars, moons, mysterious beings, and fleeting moments — where what is seen and what is felt can exist together.

SHIIGA at Nowhereland

SHIIGA is closely connected to the world of Nowhereland.

Surrounded by the mist, forests, and flowers of the Cameron Highlands, the boundaries between everyday life and the imagined world naturally become blurred.

Flowers are part of the life we live here.

Poetry and images are another way of looking at that same world.
